Cada miembro del personal, voluntario o becario recibe un mínimo de treinta horas de formación básica sobre la dinámica de la violencia doméstica y sexual, y las leyes estatales y federales de confidencialidad. Cada Defensor Confidencial de Víctimas recibe formación continua mensual acompañada de entrenamiento semanal. El tipo, variedad y profundidad de la educación anti-opresión que se proporciona a todo el personal y voluntarios normalmente sólo existe con una combinación de expertos y universidades, y en el caso de Voces Unidas por la Justicia se proporciona de forma gratuita y en español e inglés a cualquiera que decida trabajar con nosotros.

Staff
Every staff, volunteer or intern receives minimum thirty hours of basic training on the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence, and the state and federal laws of confidentiality. Every Confidential Victim Advocate has continuous monthly training accompanied with weekly coaching. The type, variety and depth of anti-oppression education provided to all staff and volunteers usually only exists with a combination of experts and universities, and in the case of Voces Unidas for Justice is provided for free and in Spanish and English to anyone who chooses to work with us.
Soy coloraduense de Denver; nacido y criado entre un hogar católico indígena/anglo y un hogar católic
chicano/mexicano. Mis raíces indígenas/anglo provienen de Dakota del Norte, Manitoba, Dinamarca y
Chicago. Mis raíces mexicanas/chicanas vienen de DF, Parral, San Bernallilo, y Denver a través de Pueblo.
Trabajar para sanar y poner fin a la violencia doméstica y sexual es una vocación para mí. Traté de evitarlo, pero resulta que soy buena en lo que hago, y he encontrado mi propia sanación aprendiendo tanto y estando en comunidad.
Considero que mi área de especialización es la formación de defensores y promotoras y la creación de políticas y prácticas liberadoras en lugar de prescriptivas. Innovar e invertir en la comunidad de supervivientes es lo que se me da bien; amar a mi gente de forma activa y práctica.

Working to heal from and end domestic and sexual violence, is a calling for me. I tried to avoid it, but it ends up that I am good at what I do, and I have found my own healing by learning so much and being in community.
I consider my area of expertise, training advocates & Promotoras and building policy and practice that is liberatory instead of prescriptive. Innovating and investing in community of survivors is what I am good at; actively and practically loving my people.

Como sobreviviente de muchas cosas mi corazón ha sido guiado a trabajar con compañeros sobrevivientes. Mis experiencias de vida me permiten entender la interseccionalidad de ser mujer, mujer de color, estar involucrada en la justicia, miembro de la comunidad queer, orgullosamente en recuperación, y sobreviviente de violencia sexual, emocional, espiritual y física. Voces se alinea con mis valores y misión como persona.
Mis áreas de especialización son la violencia doméstica, la agresión sexual, la formación y el desarrollo de defensores, la asistencia técnica y el crecimiento en todos los aspectos de mi trabajo.

I am the daughter of a Chicana mother of Denver, Colorado and immigrant father of Chihuahua, Mexico. My matriarcal line spans what is colonially know as the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
As a survivor of many things my heart has been lead to work with fellow survivors. My life experiences allow me to understand the intersectionality's of being a woman, woman of color, being justice involved, a member of the queer community, proudly in recovery, and a survivor of sexual, emotional, spiritual and physical violence. Voces aligns with my values and mission as a person.
My area of expertise are in Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Training and development of advocates, Technical assistance and growth in all aspect of my work

Soy de primera generación, nacido en California. Mis padres emigraron a EE.UU. desde La Ciudad de México, México.
Al crece r siempre vi la dinámica de poder en los hogares hispanos y latinos, los hombres son la cabeza del hogar y las mujeres quedan para recoger los pedazos. Antes también me afectaba. Nunca quise que esa. fuera mi situación, o para cualquier persona que me importaba, y me di cuenta de que ser una pequeña. parte del cambio es grande en el largo plazo, y estoy feliz de poder ayudar a difundir la conciencia y ayudar a otros a encontrar y vivir una vida de paz y amor propio con Voces Unidas Por la Justicia.

I am first generation, born in California. My parents immigrated to the USA from La Ciudad de Mexico, Mexico.
Growing up I always saw the power dynamics in Hispanic and Latino homes, men being the head of the household and women left to pick up the pieces. It hit home before as well. I never wanted that to be my situation, or for anyone I cared for, and I realized that being a small part of change is big in the long run, and I’m happy to be able to help spread awareness and help others find and live a life of peace and self-love with Voces Unidas For Justice.
My role in being the Welcome Advocate is exactly what my goal is in life, I want everyone to always feel welcome and to have a place they belong, a home away from home. Everyone belongs, everyone matters.

since migrating to the U.S. from various parts of northern Mexico throughout the first
half of the 20th century.
I am a survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as the daughter of a
survivor of the same. Through my own healing journey, I came to understand the
impact of intergenerational trauma and the legacy of colonization on Latin@ people,
and the need to center liberatory, decolonial principles in our collective healing work.
